Shared Living Providers welcome an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability into everyday family and community life. Alora trains you, pays you, and backs you up every step of the way.
Shared Living happens in a provider’s home or in the individual’s own home. Both are funded through Missouri’s DD Comprehensive Waiver and overseen by Alora.
Host Home Provider
The individual moves into your home and becomes part of your household.
Shared meals, holidays, routines, and friendships
A private bedroom for the individual, unless they choose to share
You provide transportation to appointments, activities, and work
Alora completes a full Host Home Study before any match
Companion
You move into the individual’s own home or apartment and support them there.
The home stays in the individual's or guardian's name
Separate bedrooms, with household costs split in half
If a companion leaves, the individual keeps their home
Alora completes a Companion Evaluation before any match

Shared Living Providers work under a contracted service relationship with Alora, not a traditional shift-based job. Our team will explain how the arrangement and payment work during your first conversation.
Not necessarily. What matters is that your home passes Alora’s home study and safety inspection. Talk with our team about your situation. Companions live in the individual’s own home.
