Services we provide

Six DMH-certified services, one continuous team.

Every service is built around the person’s ISP goals — coordinated by a single Alora service lead so families and support coordinators never have to chase down updates across multiple providers.

Shared Living & Host Home

A contracted host home provider opens their family life to one individual — building routines, relationships, and natural community connections that an institutional setting can't replicate.

Residential · 24/7

Personal Assistance

One-on-one support inside the person's own home — assistance with daily living, hygiene, medication oversight, and the dozens of small decisions that make independence possible.

Hourly · Flexible scheduling

Individualized Skill Development

Goal-driven instruction toward what the person wants to do next — cook, bank, ride the bus, manage a calendar, or build a social routine. Measured, documented, and tied to their ISP.

Individualized training for personal growth

Community Networking

Real community life, not contrived outings. We map the person's interests to local clubs, faith communities, libraries, gyms, and volunteer roles — then fade staffing as natural supports take hold.

Real Community Integration and Connection

In-Home Respite

Short-term relief for family caregivers — planned weekends, evenings, or a few quiet hours. Trained DSPs step in so primary caregivers can rest, work, or attend to their own appointments.

Planned or urgent

Supported Employment

Discovery, job development, on-site coaching, and long-term follow-along. We aim for competitive, integrated employment at prevailing wages — not sheltered or sub-minimum work.

Discovery → Placement → Follow-along
How we work

A plan written with the person — not for them.

Person-centered planning isn’t a slogan at Alora — it’s the operating model. Every ISP, every staffing decision, every outcome we measure starts from what the person wants their week, year, and life to look like.

1

Discovery & intake (Days 1–7)

We meet the person and their circle of support, review the ISP, and confirm DMH waiver eligibility. No commitment required at this stage.

2

Person-centered plan (Days 8–21)

Goals, supports, staffing pattern, and outcome measures co-authored with the individual, family, and support coordinator.

3

Match & start (Days 22–30)

We pair DSPs and, when relevant, host home providers based on personality, schedule, and the goals in the plan. We structure our timelines to provide prompt service delivery upon authorization approval.

4

Ongoing review & iteration

Our team of experienced Professional Managers monitor outcomes monthly, trends, changes in person's goals, frequent training, and in-the-field support to continue our commitment to high-quality service delivery.

FAQ

Common Questions About IDD Services in Missouri

What types of intellectual and developmental disabilities does Alora support?

We support adults with a wide range of IDD, including Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and other developmental conditions. Each person's needs are unique, and we work to find the right match and support level.

Alora provides shared living services across 80+ Missouri counties, with particular focus on Cass, Clay, Platte, and Jackson counties. Bridge support services are available statewide. We do not currently provide residential services in the Kansas City or St. Louis metro areas.

In traditional group homes, multiple residents live together with rotating staff. Shared living means one or two individuals live with a dedicated host family in their home. It's more personal, consistent, and family-oriented—like being welcomed into a family rather than living in a facility.

Yes. Alora is an approved Missouri provider agency for both the Comprehensive Developmental Disability Waiver (CDD) and Family Support Waiver (FSW). We can help you understand eligibility and navigate the waiver process. Some Bridge services are also available through private pay for families not yet on the waiver.

Direct support services are transition services designed to help families navigate changing needs through each life stage. They're particularly beneficial for adolescents and young adults, though available to individuals of all ages. Services include in-home support, caregiver training, mentorship, and family support groups.

Yes. Through our LRI Personal Care and Supported Family Living services, family members (including parents, spouses, relatives, or legal guardians) can serve as paid caregivers. Alora provides training, oversight, and ongoing support.

We take time to understand both sides—personalities, interests, lifestyles, support needs, and preferences. It's not just logistics; it's about finding people who genuinely connect and will build meaningful relationships.

Simply reach out by phone or email. We'll talk about your loved one's needs (or your interest in hosting), answer questions, and help you explore whether Alora is the right fit. There's no obligation—just a conversation.
