Shared living creates real family connections. Unlike traditional group homes with rotating staff, our model pairs individuals with dedicated host families who provide consistent, personalized support in a true home environment.
Adults with IDD in shared living homes report stronger relationships, greater community involvement, and higher overall life satisfaction.
In Nebraska, we call this model “shared living”—a welcoming approach that combines professional support with the comfort and consistency of family life.
Training for unpaid caregivers through webinars, conferences, and community events to build skills, knowledge, and confidence.

Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) affect how people communicate, learn, and live independently. Conditions like Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental disabilities shape someone’s experience—but they don’t define their potential.
Finding the right support makes all the difference. It’s not just about having somewhere to live—it’s about finding a place where you belong, where someone knows your story, celebrates your wins, and supports you through challenges.
That’s what Alora brings to Nebraska families.
We support adults with a wide range of IDD, including Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and other developmental conditions. Each person's needs are unique, and we work to find the right match and support level.
Alora provides shared living services across 80+ Nebraska counties, with particular focus on Cass, Dodge, Washington, and Saunders counties. Bridge support services are available statewide. We do not currently provide residential services in Omaha or Lincoln metro areas.
In traditional group homes, multiple residents live together with rotating staff. Shared living means one or two individuals live with a dedicated host family in their home. It's more personal, consistent, and family-oriented—like being welcomed into a family rather than living in a facility.
Yes. Alora is an approved Nebraska provider agency for both the Comprehensive Developmental Disability Waiver (CDD) and Family Support Waiver (FSW). We can help you understand eligibility and navigate the waiver process. Some Bridge services are also available through private pay for families not yet on the waiver.
Bridge supports are transition services designed to help families navigate changing needs through each life stage. They're particularly beneficial for adolescents and young adults, though available to individuals of all ages. Services include in-home support, caregiver training, mentorship, and family support groups.
Yes. Through our LRI Personal Care and Supported Family Living services, family members (including parents, spouses, relatives, or legal guardians) can serve as paid caregivers. Alora provides training, oversight, and ongoing support.
We take time to understand both sides—personalities, interests, lifestyles, support needs, and preferences. It's not just logistics; it's about finding people who genuinely connect and will build meaningful relationships.
Simply reach out by phone or email. We'll talk about your loved one's needs (or your interest in hosting), answer questions, and help you explore whether Alora is the right fit. There's no obligation—just a conversation.
Whether you're searching for a welcoming shared living home or exploring Bridge support services to navigate transitions, Alora is here to help your family.
